HOW DO I SIGN UP TO BE A CARD SENDER
First and foremost, we are so excited you want to join us and send cards of cheer to kids facing challenges.
To sign up to be a sender, first you have to understand that you are making a commitment to these kids. They get excited looking forward to the mail and many of them check the box every day. If you sign up and then decided you are not able to fulfill your agreement, please let me know by private message immediately. Communication between myself and all senders is extremely important. If for some reason your mail will be late or you have to take a break or stop completely, I have to be notified so the children can be reassigned as soon as possible so their mail is not interrupted.
I require a friend request from all potential senders. We have a secret group for parents and card senders where all posting is done about mail being sent out and received, and there is a group just for the card senders, where we discuss any issues we may be having, find out about new kids or kids being removed from the program, potential problems, sources for stickers, temporary tattoos, and to discuss ideas to make our group better. You cannot be added to these groups without being facebook friends. You can turn off notifications in the group so you are not notified of every post, but it is important that you check in weekly for updates and changes, because that is where the information will be posted unless it pertains to the children you send to.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS FOR SENDERS:
How it works is you're assigned to some kids. I will be starting all new senders off with a maximum of 5 children. After a period of time if things are going well and you aren't having any problems, you can request more. I get you the information about them, their address, diagnosis, and their likes and mom's name. The illness may be physical, medical or mental. This information is never to be shared. We also send to their siblings, so you may be assigned to siblings of an ill child. We accept children of any age, including infants and teens. You may be assigned to send to boys, girls, or each. You commit to send once a month. Most of the senders send stickers and temporary tattoos, coloring book pages, something simple like that in addition to the card. We never send get-well cards and never talk about their diagnosis. Gifts are also not required. The likes are just there for suggestions to kind of give you an idea. You will also be given the child's link to prayer page. I encourage you to check out their page and scroll through and read a bit about their story. You do not have to friend request the parents, but some of the senders do.
You will be required to post in the secret group when you mail out your cards and list the kids you sent to. When the parents get the cards, they post that they were received. You may see a picture of them opening their mail.
If this sounds like something you would like to do and are willing to commit to, please send a private message to the page.
